Promising Harambee Starlets foward seals move to Austria

Nairobi based Acakoro Academy has announced the transfer of forward Sylvia Makungu to Austrian top tier side FC Wacker Innsbruck for an undisclosed period of time.The Harambee Starlets forward will line up with her new club in October and will be the first player in recent years to move to the Austrian Women League.“ACAKORO proudly announces, that our player Sylvia Makungu gets the chance to join Austrian first tier side FC Wacker Innsbruck from September on,” a statement from the club read.Makungu is a Kenya U20 regular and made her senior team debut two years ago in Turkey in a match against Northern Ireland where Starlets had been invited for a women tournament that featured the likes of Chile, Ghana and hosts Turkey among others.“Sylvia Makhungu has showcased her skill as she grabbed her opportunity as she played for the National team for the first time during the tournament,” the then Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma lauded the player after the tournament.Debut match, Debut Goal!!Eldoret Falcons defender Dorcas Shiveka was on target for the #HarambeeStarlets on her senior debut.Sylvia Makungu also made her debut#StarletsReborn pic.twitter.com/69oDHrqn0e— Harambee Starlets (@StarletsKE) March 5, 2020 Acakoro Head of Sports Lukas Mott lauded the player after she earned the move and believes that she will thrive in Europe.“Sylvia is a talented offensive player that can play winger, striker and offensive midfield. She was one of the youngest players for Harambe Starlets at the age of 17. She spent her whole childhood in our project where she went through our football and education program.
