Wanyika confirmed as Bandari new skipper

Bandari have confirmed their first-choice goalkeeper Michael Wanyika as new club skipper in changes effected by the technical bench.Wanyika, who joined Bandari in 2019 from Kakamega Homeboyz will be deputized by the experienced duo of Andrew Juma and Abdallah Hassan who both, boast of international exposure having tasted it with the national team and at club level.##NAJAVA_MECA_6642919##He, succeeds the club’s central defender Bernard Odhiambo who has been captaining the team since February 2020. Odhiambo, was elevated to the rank of captain following the exit of Felly Mulumba who joined Zimbabwean side FC Platinum.Mulumba who retuned to the team in February last year, had been captaining the team in the absence of Odhiambo who has been battling recurring injuries and loss of form.“We have made a change of captaincy. Goalkeeper Wanyika has been handed the leadership bags this season, he will be supported by defender Juma and attacking midfielder Abdallah Hassan,” read a brief statement from the club.Wanyika shares the secret behind his bloom at BandariWanyika who has a handful of Harambee Stars call ups under his belt will face competition for playing time from Burundian international Justin Ndikumana and Joseph Ochuka who also earned his first national team call up last year.Ndikumana, who served as the club’s first choice goalkeeper lost his place in the starting team to Wanyika in the past campaign with Ochuka being the preferred as the second option.
