Wazito boss focuses on positives in defeat to Tusker

Wazito FC head coach Jeffers Odongo has picked positives from his side’s 2-0 defeat to Tusker FC in a friendly match staged at the Muhoroni Stadium on Thursday afternoon.Goals from Saphan Oyugi and Eric Otieno helped Tusker overcome the rebuilding Wazito. The team is currently based in Kisumu under new ownership, engineer Joel Odongo is the new club supremo. The team started its pre-season two weeks ago and Odongo, who has since taken over as head coach replacing Fred Ambani is a happy coach. He says his team has made quick strides as was evident to him against Robert Matano’s troops.“I noted a lot of improvements in that game, the team is gelling well, we are growing tactically and I am happy with the strides made so far considering that we are just on our second week of pre-season. We will definitely get better with more training sessions and friendly matches,” he told Mozzart Sport.Football 🤝Friendship.Good morning, Brewers! pic.twitter.com/Tjfs3uzIhT— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) September 16, 2022 The tactician has already settled on what he believes is his starting team that he fielded against the Brewers in the first half and he says the team is almost perfect.“I think my first 11 is almost perfect. I fielded two teams against Tusker. My starting team played in the first half while the second team featured in the second and I can say my first team is almost complete. We just need to do some little fine tuning and we will be ready for the league kick off, teams should be ready for a competitive Wazito FC,” he added.##NAJAVA_MECA_6651595##He however admits that there are two issues to address. His team conceded a goal in the first and 47th minutes and he says his team’s concentration is not at its best. He also wants his team to bury the chances that they create.“There are two issues that we have to address. Firstly, is our concentration because we conceded goals early in the first half and early in the second and that means our concentration is not at its best. We have to be focused from the first to the final whistle. The second is finishing off chances that we create, we are a little wasteful in front of goal and that is something that we are going to emphasize on at the training ground,” he added.Next for Wazito is a friendly match against Kakamega Homeboyz. The two teams will face off on Saturday at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.Olunga confirmed as the highest scoring player for Qatari clubs in 2022
