Babu hopes there will be no further league postponement

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Salim Babu hopes that the league will resume soon as his team is ready for the new campaign and that continued postponement could affect not only his team but other top-flight teams too.The kick-off date for the 2022/23 season remains unknown. The FKF Transition Committee had announced that the new campaign will start on 24th September but this has since been rubbished by returning FKF President Nick Mwendwa who says the league will kick off at the earliest in mid-October. This has left teams at a crossroads.Babu hopes that there will be no further delays as it will affect teams at some point. He says his team in particular is ready for the new season.“Right now I can say that we are in good shape, we are ready to play. But the challenge now is that we do not know when the league will start and that will definitely affect the team at some point because during pre-season we work with a schedule with the date of kickoff in mind. We worked with the Transition Committee’s dates but we are not sure whether the league will kick off on the 24th because we are getting conflicting information, no one is setting things straight ” Babu told Mozzart Sport.##NAJAVA_MECA_6651748##On Tuesday, Gor Mahia, Kariobangi Sharks, Kenya Police, Sofapaka, Nairobi City Stars, and Ulinzi Stars will commence a week-long pre-season cup and Babu wishes teams from the Western region could have the same to help them keep fit.“I see teams based in Nairobi have a week-long tournament and I think that is a very good thing for them because it will help them prepare well, it is a competitive cup and I wish we had the same in this Western region, it would have played an important role in keeping the team ready because when you train a lot without playing, laxity tends to creep in,” he added. As per the transition committee’s fixtures, Nzoia were set to start the season with a match against Bidco United in Thika.Sofapaka sign former Tusker midfielder
