Defiant FKF PL clubs reiterate stance on snubbing Transition Committee league

FKF Premier League clubs have reiterated their position not to honour the league run by the FKF Transition Committee that is penciled to kick off on Saturday 1 October.Last week, top tier clubs CEOs met and reached a decision not to honour a league that is not recognized by world football governing body, FIFA. This in turn dealt a massive blow to Transition Committee’s hopes of running the top tier league for another season. On Monday however, the committee appeared defiant and went ahead to release league fixtures. They maintained that they are still in charge of football in country and are confident that the 2022/23 season, whose kick off date has been pushed forward on three occasions will commence on the first day of October. The Transition Committee have released fixtures.Their league starts on Saturday. In a move that could leave the committee with a egg on its face, the KPL caucus chairman who is also the Gor Mahia CEO, Raymond Oruo says their resolution remains intact.“We have not changed our mind and as the chairman of the caucus (KPL), I can tell you that we are not playing (in the FKF Transition Committee run league,” he told the Nation.Nzoia Sugar FC chairman, Evans Kadenge whose side was set to face Bidco United in Thika as per the fixtures maintains that his team will not leave Bungoma for Thika as they are bound by the decision of the caucus.“All the 18 clubs met and said they will not take part in a league run by the FKF Transition Committee. Nzoia Sugar will not honour their fixture against Bidco United,” he said.Meanwhile returning FKF President Nick Mwendwa maintains that the new season will commence on 22nd October and clubs have been urged to continue with their preparations.Former Sports Minister wants debilitating FIFA suspension lifted quickly
