Winnie Okello juggles between coaching and playing for Kisped Queens FC, runners up in the Nyanza Regional League. Currently pursuing her CAF D Licensing certificate, the former Kisumu All Starlets skipper hopes that next season brings forth better tidings for her team. ‘’We missed promotion into Division 1 by a whisker. Our main rivals, Kolwa Falcons had a fantastic season and dully deserved to be promoted. As for us, we intend to go one better and finish top of the league,’’ she says.Kisped is home to many seasoned players including former Vihiga Queens captain Lilian Adera who is also pursuing her coaching course alongside Okello. Others include Emmalyne Adhiambo, Linda Choka and Asha Achieng. I personally want to be a coach as a soon as I call id a day,’’ continues Okello.The club, handled by former Kisumu All Starlets assistant coach Boniface Owade and Daniel Minjis are currently on a recruiting spree with new faces already training with the team. ‘’What we lacked last season was depth, we had a thin squad and that stretched us a lot. We are currently recruiting younger players to increase our depth and also offer the coaches a variety to choose from,’’ adds the defender who spent five years at Starlets.Shikangwa eyeing golden boot in TanzaniaCoach Owade, having assessed his current squad, is a confident man too. ‘’The long break has given us enough time to go back to the drawing board and rectify a few things. I’ve had enough time with the new signings and I’m looking forward to playing very good football next season.
