EUROPA LEAGUE: Arsenal win easily even with a reserve squad

Arsenal fans have three reasons to be happy tonight. Their team won against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League match, the game was basically a stress free affair with two quick goals after 30 minutes and most impressive of all, they did it with a reserve squad. After another impressive display over the weekend and a great win over city rivals Tottenham, Gunners coach Mikel Arteta decided to change no less than 8 players and it still worked: Arsenal – Bodo/Glimt 3-0.Gabriel Jesus has been directly involved in more goals than any other Arsenal player this season:◎ 10 games◎ 5 goals◉ 4 assistsDancing through defenders. 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/TDeqnYgSu5— Squawka (@Squawka) October 6, 2022 Only Gabriel, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli keep their places in the team, and with other 8 players, Arteta basically made the same starting 11 that beat FC Zurich last month. Off course, the Spaniard also had in mind the upcoming derby with Liverpool on Sunday, and wanted to rest players like Ben White, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba, and he managed to do that also.Vieria had the opening chance of the match in the 9th minute, but the ball went off the bar. The first goal came in the 23rd minute when Martinelli shook off two players in the middle and found Tierney on the left. The Scott took a shot and Nketiah tapped home on the rebound. Minutes later, it was already 2-0. Vieira picked out Holding at the back post and his header was spot on. Bodo’s keeper Haikin made a superb save after Xhaka’s free kick in the 35th minute.Second half was rather dull, as the Gunners just slowed the pace in order to remain fresh for the weekend and Bodo/Glimt even won the possession battle but nothing come out of it. Saka, Odegaard and Jesus all came in for the last 30 minutes as Arteta wanted to give them some game time but also prevent any surprise, as the guests had two shots on target in that period. The home team had to wait until the 84th minute for the third goal, and it was a simple tap in from Vieira, after G. Jesus did all the work on the left side.UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE – GROUP STAGERound 3Thursday Crvena Zvezda – Ferencvaros 4-1 (2-0)/Kanga 27, 60, Mitrovic 35, Katai 50 – Zachariassen 71/Helsinki – Ludogorets 1-1 (0-1)/Hetemaj 55 – Tissera 10/Monaco – Trabzon 3-1 (2-0)/Ben Yedder 10(p), 45(p), Disasi 55 – Bakasetas 72/Malmo – Union Berlin 0-1 (0-0)/Becker 68)Sheriff Tiraspol – Sociedad 0-2 (0-0)/Silva 53, Elustondo 62/Zurich – PSV 1-5 (0-4)/Okita 87 – Vertessen 10, 15, Gakpo 21, 55, Simons 35/Sturm – Lazio 0-0Omonia – Man.Utd. 2-3 (1-0)/Ansarifard 34, Panagiotou 85 – Rashford 53, 84 Martial 63/Freiburg – Nantes 2-0 (0-0)/Kuereh 48 Grifo 72/Olympiakos – Qarabag 0-3 (0-0)/ Kwabena 68, Vesovic 82, Sheadev 86/Roma – Betis 1-2 (1-1)/Dybala 34(p) – Rodriguez 40, Henrique 88/Fenerbahce – AEK Larnaca 2-0 (1-0)/Batshuayi 26, Mamas 76 (og)/Rennes – Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 (1-1)/Terrier 23, Doue 89 – Tsygankov 33/Braga – St.Gilloise 1-2 (0-0)/Ruiz 49 – Nilsson 84, 90/Midtjylland – Feyenoord 2-2 (0-2)/Isaksen 54, Juninho 85 – Szymanski 21, Kokcu 45/Arsenal – Bodo 3-0 (2-0)/Nketiah 23, Holding 27, Vieira 84/***odds are subject to change
