Aussems urges impoverished Leopards to invest in own facilities

AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems has urged the club to invest in its own facilities for them to compete with the best in Africa. The Belgian pointed out that lack of training and boarding facilities are some of the administrative issues derailing Ingwe’s renaissance.”We need to be professional, we’re currently training on an old turf pitch which is not making our work easy, our efforts to get a better alternative have not been fruitful. To be honest, we can’t hope for better things without our own facilities. I have talked to the management and told them that the next step should be for Ingwe to own its own training ground,” Aussems told Mozzart SportPrioritize fixing the ailing Sports, @AFCLeopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu tells new Sports CS Ababu Namwamba pic.twitter.com/aaPhimxx2l— BALOZI ASHIALI (@BALOZIASHIALI) September 30, 2022 Leopards are among many clubs that use the dilapidated Camp Toyoyo ground for training and friendly matches. The former Simba SC coach believes that his young squad can build on last season’s Kenyan Premier League experience to do well this season.”The players now have at least one season experience in the league, we can use that to do better this season. I’m looking at a top three or four finish in the league, but anything can happen including injuries that can derail the team.”Always remember,it’s all about the fans #fkf #gor #bandari #afcleopards #mvitayoungstars #mombasa #footballkenya pic.twitter.com/2jcwnBFjK8— Taufiq Balala (@taufiqbalala) October 3, 2022 Ingwe have never won the league title in 24 years. The team finished sixth in the 2021-22 KPL season with 45 points from 11 wins 12 draws and 7 losses. Like other coaches, Aussems has decried the uncertainty over the 2022-23 season schedule.”It’s a nightmare for us. I’m a professional, I plan my work ahead of time, but when you train not knowing when you’re going to compete then it becomes difficult,” the 57-year-old said. The FKF Transition Committee postponed the new season kick-off last week citing the need to engage clubs on a number of issues.
