Vihiga Bullets rubbish ‘relegation’, insist on staying in FKF Premier League

More controversies are hovering over the already stricken Kenyan football as Vihiga Bullets insist the team will play in the FKF Premier League next season despite their relegation from the top tier at the end of last season.Bullets finished the season in the 17th position and were automatically relegated to the second tier after just one season in the top league. However a ruling by the Sports Disputes Tribunal that the relevant standing committees were not involved in the running of the league under the FKF Transition Committee put the legality of the 2021/22 season on the balance.##NAJAVA_MECA_6706240##The SDT further ruled that all decisions made by the FKF-TC formed Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee (IDAC) were not binding as it was an illegal entity. The court has since halted the promotion of APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco pending the hearing and determination of a case challenging their elevation to the top tier. Two weeks ago, FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) clubs met and resolved not to honour a league that is not FIFA sanctioned. In the meeting, Bullets and Mathare United who were equally relegated were represented further fueling speculation that the two teams will not go down without a fight.Bullets head coach Abdalla Juma now says his team is a premier league team and that he is preparing the squad so that they are ready by the time the new season commences. FKF has announced that the 2022/23 season will commence at the end of the month.“So far so good, we are preparing well for the new season and by the time that the league starts we will be ready to play,” the tactician told Mozart Sport.Mathare United MAINTAIN that they are not relegated from the top tier.Vihiga Bullets are telling their players that they are still in Kenya’s top tier league.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/fZwFAvIGrX— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) September 1, 2022 “We are still in the premier league, the court ruled that the league was not legally run and there is no basis for our relegation. I am preparing the team to play in the premier league and the boys are motivated. I am confident that will do better than we did last season,” he added. The tactician is keen on learning on the exact date that the new season will start so that he can program his training sessions well.“FKF President Nick Mwendwa announced that he will soon confirm the date that the league starts. Once the date is announced we will know how to program our training sessions but we are putting good work at the training ground,” he concluded.Last week Mwendwa promised to disclose the kick-off date soon.Njung’e unfazed by stiff goalkeeping competition at Nairobi City Stars
