Wazito ready for FKFPL playoffs after Sports Disputes Tribunal ruling

The club, now based in Muhoroni town after it was acquired by businessman Eng. Joel Odongo, had already secured their spot in the 2022-23 FKFPL season on away goal’s rule following a 4-4 aggregate score against Murang’a Seal FC in the initial playoffs played in August, but a recent ruling by the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) has sent them back to the drawing board.”Anytime we will be called upon to take to the field against Muhoroni Youth in the playoffs, we will be ready. We have been training hard and playing friendly matches to get the competitive edge and so far I can say we’re making good progress and ready to complete,” Wazito FC Team Manager Moses Nyalik told Mozzart Sport. The team is currently taking part in a tournament in Mumias which comprises Nzoia Sugar, Kakamega Homeboyz and St. Peter’s Mumias Boys High School. It further reinstated the FKF Transition Committee decision that handed Shabana FC the abandoned match against Fortune Sacco FC.The two decisions meant that the Muhoroni Youth FC, who were the petitioners, finished third in the season’s NSL table standings and should play the Kenyan Premier League relegation/promotion playoffs against Wazito FC.With the Football Kenya Federation, FKF Transition Committee no longer in place after their term of office expired last week, and Kenya still serving an indefinite FIFA suspension, it is still not clear who will run football activities in the country next season, making the playoffs doubtful. Gor Mahia sourcing for additional technical staff abroadThere have been rumours that should the previous FKF office led by Nick Mwendwa return, then the 2021-22 league will be scrapped with no relegation of promotion. If it happens then Muhoroni Youth will remain in the National Super League with Wazito FC keeping their top-flight status.
