Tanzania’s Azam FC have sacked Frenchman Denis Lavagne barely two months into his stay at the Chamazi-based side after a series of unconvincing results.Lavagne was brought in at the start of September to replace Abdihamid Moallin who had been shown the door just two games into the current campaign, and it seems Azam’s coaching door will revolve yet again.Azam FC is home to Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna, and the sacking of Lavagne will perhaps give the midfielder a new lease of life having just returned to the main team after some time injured.Muguna’s Azam appoint former Cameroon coach to replace MoallinIn the eight matches across all competitions that he was in charge of, Lavagne managed only three wins, twice in the league and once in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary although the victory was not sufficient as Azam still crashed out of the competition to Libya’s Al Akhdar.He managed as many losses, three, and only two draws with the team scoring only eight goals and conceding nine.Azam took to social media to confirm the sacking of the 58-year-old, the action coming just a day after they lost 2-1 to KMC FC.”Azam FC has terminated their contract with Denis Lavagne as the head coach effective today, October 22, 2022. The decision is based on the club’s interests as well as the future of our project and our technical development,” the statement by the club sent out on Saturday night read.Muguna makes comeback in Tanzania after near two month injury layoffThe French coach has been at the helm of a number of clubs in Africa including Free State Stars, Al-Hilal, CS Constantine, JS Kabylie, USM Alger, and the Cameroon national team, and will now have Azam in his Africa-rich CV.
