Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have recommenced the FIFA integrity workshops as a way of curbing match fixing that has rocked Kenyan football in recent years.In 2020, four Kakamega Homeboyz players were found guilty of the vice and were banned. Moses Chikati, Festus Okiring and Festo Omukoto were slapped with four year bans while George Mandela was handed a life time ban.##NAJAVA_MECA_6529##Early last year , FKF suspended five match officials over allegations of engaging in match-manipulation an indicator that the vice is deeply rooted in the game.In March 2021, the federation, in conjunction with World football governing body, FIFA began workshops to sensitize players, club officials, referees and stakeholders in general on the dangers of engaging in the vice.“Match manipulation is a global concern. FKF with the assistance of CAF and FIFA has proactively set up this workshop to inform and educate clubs through their officials on the importance of detecting and preventing the vice in order to protect the integrity of the game,” FKF CEO Barry Otieno said during the launch of the program.LBandari was the first club to undergo the workshop that was led by FKF Integrity Officer Michael Kamure. The workshops were stopped when FKF got disbanded by former CS, Amina Mohammed in November 2021.FKF will engage all stakeholders i.e the media, federation members, league officials, clubs, fans in the fight against Match-fixing.
