Apprehensive wait for APS, Fortune Sacco with FKF set to determine promotion fate

It is now an anxious wait for APS Bomet, Fortune Sacco and the other clubs that earned promotion across Kenyan football with the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) set to determine the fate of the just concluded season that was run by the FKF Transition Committee. After the restoration of FKF on Friday by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, CEO Barry Otieno said they will make a decision regarding the fate of the just concluded seasons.##NAJAVA_MECA_6787019##“In this regard, the Federation will in the coming days communicate the next steps, including the status of the just concluded 2021/2022 league season and scheduled dates for the kickoff of the 2022/2023 league season,” read the letter from Otieno in part. The legality of the 2021/22 season run by the government-appointed committee has been a subject of discussion for months now. For example, Mathare United and Vihiga Bullets, sides that were relegated from the FKF Premier League maintain that the committee did not have the mandate to take them down and insist on playing the top tier in the 2022/23 season.APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco sides that finished top and second in the National Super League and are supposed to feature in the top tier have remained edgy as they await for their fate to be decided and even so, APS have already hinted that they could be heading to court if they are denied a chance to feature in the top tier.“We are preparing to play in the FKF Premier League because we earned promotion fairly. We honoured all our games faithfully, won and lost graciously and at the end of the season we topped the league, it’s only fair that we are allowed to grace the top tier,” CEO Rose Chemutai said in an earlier interview.BREAKINGThe Sports Disputes Tribunal has temporarily suspended the promotion of APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco to the FKF Premier League. The Transition Committee ordered not to include them in their fixtures.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/ZhfUlTVnxi— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) September 2, 2022 “We are waiting for NEC to sit and decide and we expect that they will ratify our promotion because it’s the right thing for them to do. If they do not then we will have to seek justice in court, we will ensure that justice is served to this club,”.The issue is not limited to the top tier only. Mayenje Santos, Kona Rangers and Dimba Patriots sides that got promoted to the National Super League from the third tier will also await their fate. The other lower leagues were largely run by the FKF Branches and may not be affected unless the federation decides to nullify all the leagues across the country.##NAJAVA_MECA_6786280##Another contentious issue that may have to be handled by the NEC is the illegal issue of teams that have changed ownership and relocated. Wazito FC under new ownership are now based in Kisumu. Vihiga United has been renamed Luanda Villa under new ownership, Dandora Love sold its slot to Kajiado FC while Gogo Boys have acquired Muhoroni Youth’s National Super League spot. Rule 8.1.7 on Club Licensing, Name, and Ownership reads: ‘In the event of a club being sold or relocating, it will be relegated to its current county or FKF Branch League’.Joash Onyango finishes third in Simba’s October Player of the Month Award
