Tusker are going to win the title again this coming season.”He called the season’s victory “pyrrhic.” “I’d rather lose that victory but all the eighteen teams get back to the pitch, that’s more important than saying, ‘we have one more cup’, even if we get our victory affirmed in court, we can not play in Africa.”Gacheru is, however, worried over the issue of relegation and promotion in the two top tier leagues, saying it could get protracted if not handled well, leading to further delays in the league kick-off. “I think that’s where FKF could get problems, but I believe that for us to move forward, all stakeholders must accept that something has to give way, there must be sacrifices and losses here and there.”In a letter to the FKF and Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba, former FKF Competitions Manager Samson Cherop wants the NEC decision reversed, failure to which he is ready to sue.”This is a weighty matter and of great public interest. The “FKF NEC” has no powers to unilaterally nullify a league season that has been concluded. It is against fair administrative process for several clubs who anticipated to be promoted to the next league tiers. It is also curious to find that the decisions affected the leagues that were being managed by the caretaker committee and financed by taxpayers.”It looks like a revenge mission without considering the welfare of football clubs who spent considerable time and resources in honoring those league matches. This takeover led to FIFA, the world’s football governing body, suspending Kenya indefinitely from all football activities. The suspension still stands but is expected to be lifted soon after the government complied with demands to reinstate the disbanded office.
