Senegal forward Sadio Mane is out of the World Cup due to injury, the Senegal Football Federation have confirmed on Thursday night.On Tuesday, Senegal’s football federation said Mane, 30, would miss their “first games” at the tournament.There is a shred of hope that Mane might play at the World CupBut a further MRI scan was completed on Thursday that showed surgical intervention is needed.Mane was forced off during Bayern’s Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen on 8 November.Sadio Mane is out of the World Cup!Senegal start their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on Monday. The West Africans are in Group A with games against hosts Qatar (25 November) and Ecuador (29 November) to follow.Mane was crucial in Senegal’s first-ever AFCON win in February as he scored the winning penalty as the Teranga Lions beat Egypt in a penalty shootout in the final.
