Resilient Mathare turn to seasoned players as league commences

A few days after resuming training in readiness for the new season, FKF Premier League side, Mathare United have begun assembling a team for the new campaign, roping in some seasoned names.The 2008 league champions commenced training on Tuesday, a few days before the 2022/23 season that commences tomorrow started. They were handed some form of reprieve when FKF postponed their weekend match against Posta Rangers as there is a case challenging the nullification of the 2021/22 season, a decision that reinstated Mathare United alongside Vihiga Bullets, two sides that had been relegated to the second tier and denied APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco a chance to grace the top tier.##NAJAVA_MECA_6821052##Mathare are currently under the tutelage of a number of MYSA and Mathare United coaches with former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi in charge of the whole project.Among players training with the club is the former Wazito FC trio of goalkeeper Mustafa Oduor, winger Curtis Wekesa, and left-back Levin Odhiambo. The three opted out of the club when it was sold and are now training with the Slum Boys.Former Mathare United defender Lennox Ogutu is back with the club after a season away at Nairobi City Stars and he is among the players that the club will be banking on. Olang’o has been training with APS Bomet during pre-season and was expected to feature for the team next season.
