World Cup 2022: Stadium 974, a first of many?

Qatar, the host for this year’s FIFA World Cup (WC) is offering a few firsts as a far as the tournament’s history goes. It will be the first winter edition in the history of the competition also a first in Arab world but there is a more interesting first,  the first time a WC game will be played in a ‘transportable’ stadium will be in Qatar. FIFA World Cup 2022 for beginners; What you need to knowStadium 974, in the Ras Abu Aboud region of Doha, was completed in late November 2021 and used for the Arab World Cup in preparation for the WC. Its name is derived from both the international dialling code for Qatar and the number of recycled shipping containers used in constructing the 40,000 capacity facility. Alot went into preparing Qatar for the task of hosting the world, most of it going into infrastructure that cost the oil-rich country billions of money. From hotels to roads to stadiums, Qatar went all out. Eight stadiums will host the 64 matches set to be played  ##NAJAVA_MECA_6829226##Stadium 974 will host six group games and one round-of-16 match. After the conclusion of the megaevent, the stadium will be dismantledSituated in the portside area and in sight of Doha’s coastal cityscape, fans at Stadium 974 will feel the cool breeze as it rolls in from the Arabian Gulf 974 is an intriguing architectural concept and has modified shipping containers sitting within the steel framework of the stadium and providing the spaces for bathrooms, concessions, skyboxes, and media rooms. Natural ventilation created through the design of the stadium eliminates the need for air conditioning.While forming portions of the stadium’s exterior, some of these steel containers contain staircases, concession stands, and bathrooms.  It is the only stadium positioned close to the sea and will also be the first stadium that football fans will see upon arriving in Qatar for the tournament, due to its proximity to Hamad International Airport.Some of the matches to be hosted at this facility include Mexico vs Poland on 22 November, Portugal vs Ghana on 24 November, holders France vs Denmark on 26 November, and one of the pre-tournament favourites Brazil vs Switzerland on 28 November.
