Lukaku still injured, will miss first two World Cup games

Romelu Lukaku probably cannot wait for 2022 to finish. The Belgium international had a terrible year, which consisted of unsuccessful spell in Chelsea (just eight Premier League goals and one assist), equally unsuccessful spell at Inter so far (five games, two goals) and injuries. A major one, a muscle injury, has kept him out of the field for months, but everyone expected that he would be fit for the World Cup. He was included into the 26 man list for Qatar and is there right now, but new reports are not looking good.🚨 Romelu Lukaku has been ruled OUT of Belgium’s first 2 World Cup games with injury. ❌🇧🇪✍️ @afpfr pic.twitter.com/gOTlAEz1SE— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) November 20, 2022 It seems that the injury is still pretty much painful and the reports from the Belgium camp are suggesting Lukaku will miss the first two games at the World Cup, against Canada and Morocco, which gives him additional seven days to recover. Lukaku was able to get through an individual training course at the Doha training camp, but that is still far away from participating in a proper group training session. The Pharaohs dominate Belgium as De Bruyne, Hazard and co suffer a disturbing pre-WC lossThe Belgians are favorites in the Group F with 2018 finalists Croatia, but they would surely be happy to include Lukaku in those games. So, other players like Michy Batshuayi will have to step up. Luckily for coach Roberto Martinez, this is the ‘Golden Generation’ of Belgium, a team with experienced players who are expected to do ‘something’ in this World Cup, as they are at its peak. Players like Courtois, Dendoncker, Carrasco, Castagne, De Bruyne, Tielemans, Witsel, Trossard, Mertens, Doku and Batshuayi are strong enough to win most of the games and in the knockout phase, everything is possible.##NAJAVA_MECA_6824720##
