BREAKING NEWS; Kenya’s FIFA suspension lifted

After 277 days in the cold, Kenya’s FIFA suspension has finally been lifted! FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura communicated the development officially to the FKF General Secretary Barry Otieno earlier today informing him that the suspension had been lifted following a meeting by the Bureau of the FIFA Council on 25th November 2022. “The bureau was informed of the official letter dated 4 November 2022 from the FKF General Secretary Barry Otieno to FIFA, confirming that the Kenyan Government as represented by the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports, the Hon. Ababu Nambwamba, had reinstated the FKF Executive Committee with immediate effec. The Bureau also noted the FKF General Secretary further asserted that the FKF offices had been handed back to the association’s elected leadership,” the letter reads partly, “In view of these circumstances, the Bureau of the Council decided on 25 November 2022 to lift the suspension of the FKF Executive Committee with immediate effect …:” it adds. The letter further states that a FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi soon to chart the way forward for FKF and to officially meet Sports CS Hon. Ababu Namwamba. Kenya was suspended by FIFA early in February due to Government interference after the then Sports CS Amina Mohamed disbanded FKF and its National Executive in November 201
