Harambee Starlets Violet Wanyonyi, who had been thought to have decamped Trans Nzoia Falcons for three-time Women Premier League (WPL) champions Vihiga Queens featured for the former in their mid-week match. Her inclusion in the Kitale-based squad against Vihiga, a team she had featured for in the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers and tournament left many with questions. 🇰🇪 Perfectly timed follow from Violet Wanyonyi for @Vihigaqueens earns her the #GoalOfTheDay! 🔥#TotalEnergiesCAFWCL | #itsTimeItsNow pic.twitter.com/US1InjPvK3— #ItsTimeItsNow (@CAFwomen) November 9, 2021 It has now emerged that she had joined Vihiga on loan with an intention to make her move official at the beginning of the season. Everything seemed to be in order for the Boniface Nyamunyamu-coached Vihiga and after missing the first two league matches, they expected her to feature against her former omployer but that was never to be. “Until Sunday, just a day to our match against Trans Nzoia, she was part of the team and was training. She was not available on Monday but we expected her to show on Tuesday for the match. It was just as shocking to see her come out of the Trans Nzoia Falcons bus fully changed in their colours ready to face us,” explained the tactician further saying the team’s management was handling the matter. His opposite number at Falcons, Chris Amwayi in a separate interview revealed that the management of both teams had met to try and strike an official transfer deal but could not agree on terms further confirming that the Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) nominee will remain at Falcons. “I did not attend the meeting but the information I have is they (teams’ management) could not agree terms. I am not aware of how much Vihiga had offered to pay for the player or what Falcons had asked for,” Amwayi said.Goodnight from our today’s top scorer duo..Violet Wanyonyi ⚽⚽⚽⚽Maureen Achieng ⚽⚽⚽#VihigaQueens#LegacyMakers#CECAFA2021 pic.twitter.com/OCzudwbnXE— Vihiga Queens FC (@Vihigaqueens) September 1, 2021 Meawhile, Vihiga Queens team manager Michael Senelwa maintains that the player’s matter is being resolved by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee and until a consensus from the parties involved consensus has been reached, he is not at liberty to comment on the matter further. “There are a few issues being resolved by the committee. Despite the tranfer window having been closed, her case is being handled as a pending matter from back when the window was open so whatever the committee will rule goes,” said Senelwa.
