Kenyan international Eugene Asike has set his sights on earning a promotion with Karlstad to the Swedish second tier after completing his transfer to the club late last month.The 28-year-old has two appearances under his belt already at the club as he made his debut in the 2-2 draw against Vasalunds which is home to fellow Kenyans Anthony Wambani and Mohammed Katana.Eugene Asike unveiled in Sweden by new side IF KarlstadSpeaking to Mozzart Sport, the burly center-back revealed that he is out to help Karlstad secure promotion to the second tier for the first time ever in their short history.“My target with Karlstad is to give my best and help the team get promoted to the top league come the end of the season. That’s the team objective this season,” said Asike.The club was formed back in 2019 in a controversial decision that saw two teams from the city of Karlstad, Carlstad United and Karlstad BK merge.Asike delighted to make debut against another Kenyan in SwedenAsike made his first start for the club in the 1-0 defeat to Sylvia over the weekend and will be hoping to collect his first win with the club in their next encounter against Sollentuna on Saturday.Asked the difference between the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) and the Swedish Division One, Asike had this to say, “The league here is more tactical and the intensity of the game is high.”
