After Vincent Kompany and David Silva, another Manchester City hero Sergio Aguero got his recognition for everything he did for the Citizens. And even if he scored only half of his record 260 goals, he would be honored for the one which he scored in overtime against QPR in 2012, after which Manchester became champions after more than 40 years. On Friday, at the 10th anniversary of that title, the sculpture which shows Aguero’s shirt-waving celebration after scoring against QPR was revealed outside the Etihad stadium. But, somebody is making fun of it, and it’s no other than Tony Kroos!Sure? https://t.co/m7M0Owc9q9— Toni Kroos (@ToniKroos) May 13, 2022 Sculptor Andy Scott was the author of the statue, but many fans soon realized that Aguero’s face is not so accurate and that it even resembles to Real Madrid’s midfielder. And the German international added more ‘fuel’ when he commented on the statue himself. BBC journalist Simon Stone reported from the event and tweeted the photo of the statue with a comment “Sergio is here”, to which Kroos replied simply “Sure?” which sparkled even more discussions on the social networks. The truth is that there are several cases in which the results of the sculptures were not as expected . One of the most notorious was the bust dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo by the artist Emanuel Santos that went around the world.CITY FOREVER 💙#ManCity pic.twitter.com/Q5Fr20RHno— Manchester City (@ManCity) May 13, 2022 Sergio Aguero admitted he was grateful to Manchester City for the honor. Among other achievements, Aguero netted the stoppage-time strike against QPR that sealed City’s Premier League title triumph at the Etihad Stadium in 2012, their first English title since 1968.”Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me. In those 10 years I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world. I am very grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special. I remember I was very young, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving” said Aguero.Sergio, Sergio! 🎶#ManCity pic.twitter.com/uczjAEw8NP— Manchester City (@ManCity) May 13, 2022 The Argentinian went on to score a record 260 goals for City before leaving to join Barcelona last year. The 33-year-old retired in December due to a heart condition, but his legendary status at City is now immortalized with a statue outside the ground, which still looks like Kroos.PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 37Sunday14.00: (1.38) Tottenham (5.00) Burnley (9.00)16.00: (2.14) Aston Villa (3.50) Crystal Palace (3.80)16.00: (2.75) Leeds (3.30) Brighton (2.60)16.00: (3.90) Watford (3.50) Leicester (1.99)16.00: (1.50) Wolverhampton (4.20) Norwich (7.50)16.00: (7.75) West Ham (5.00) Man.City (1.41)18.30: (2.09) Everton (3.40) Brentford (3.70)Monday22.00: (4.10) Newcastle (3.50) Arsenal (1.94)Tuesday21.45: (8.00) Southampton (5.10) Liverpool (1.42)***odds are subject to change
